“It’s not about having it all, it’s about loving it all.”By Olivia Ruello | Mar 17, 17 11:19 AM
Go salsa dancing. Eat the cake. Apply for the job. Hug your family that little bit tighter.
I heard a rumour there was a group of members salsa dancing late into Tuesday night after a Premium Member Dinner this week.
This story is so much of what I love about the Business Chicks community; I love that you can turn up to a dinner knowing no one (and that in itself is a feat) and leave with a full heart, and an iPhone full of new connections.
At our International Women’s Day event in Sydney last week, one of our speakers, Janine Shepherd, spoke about the importance of looking after your own personal flame ‘by choosing courage and boldness in the face of fear, so that you feed the collective flame for all of us’.
Janine was training to compete in cross country skiing at the 1988 Winter Olympics back when she was hit by a truck and almost lost her life. Doctors told Janine she may never walk again and that she would never have children. Janine never made it to the Olympics, but almost 30 years later, she walked onto our stage, spoke beautifully about her three amazing kids and left our whole audience speechless.
She said: “It’s not about having it all, it’s about loving it all.”
So Business Chicks, this week I’m calling on all of you to think big, enjoy the now and say 'yes' to the opportunities that present themselves. Go salsa dancing. Eat the cake. Apply for the job. Hug your family that little bit tighter. Love every single one of those moments – and most importantly, remember to love yourself in the process too.
