How performance should really be measuredBy Olivia Ruello | Jul 01, 16 08:56 AM
"Every organisation needs their own set of values which should underpin everything they do. Values have to be living, breathing things! Not words on a wall."
I can’t quite believe it, but it's July. This means performance-review time for hundreds and thousands of workers and business owners.
Of course, for businesses to grow, we all need goals and financial targets, but I believe that measuring employee performance based on whether they are meeting company values is something organisations should move more towards. It’s what we do at Business Chicks.
Every organisation needs their own set of values which should underpin everything they do. Values have to be living, breathing things! Not words on a wall.
Our values at Business Chicks are:
We’re open-hearted and community-minded.
We’re progressive, inventive and ambitious.
We’re honest, authentic and true to ourselves.
If my team is living and breathing these values, then they are going to be performing well in their role and creating the connections, content, events and experiences for you all that matter; it’s basically a given.
If you’ve got a team of people who are guided by your values and using the organisation’s purpose to fuel every decision they make, then you’re going to be kicking some serious goals this financial year. And, if you're stepping into your own review, get very familiar with your company’s values and show your leader how you’re living them.
Happy new financial year, everyone. Have a glass of bubbles – you’ve earned it!
